You're often the one people call first. When something goes wrong in a friend's life or a family crisis starts, you're already working out what's needed, whether that's a practical fix or the right words. Looking after people comes so naturally that you rarely stop to ask whether you want to. Home matters to you, and so does making the people inside it feel safe and wanted.
You carry a clear picture of how things ought to be, between people and in a home, and it hurts when reality falls short. That makes you generous and fair. It can also make you the one who redoes what someone else did 'wrong' when they aren't looking. You want to be needed, and on some days being needed is exactly what wears you out. Saying so feels disloyal, so you usually keep going.
Your help is more tied up with worry than people realize. To others your advice can sound like interfering, or like judgment. From the inside it comes from seeing what might go wrong for them and wanting to stop it first. You're also much better at giving than receiving. Compliments and offers of help can make you oddly uncomfortable, as if you've been caught owing something.
At your best you make the people around you feel held, and your home and friendships tend to become places others want to be. You can't carry someone else's life for them, and trying can leave you tired and resentful. Letting people do things their own way, even badly, is also a way of caring for them.
Life Path 6 in love and at work
You make a home around the people you love, and you notice what a partner needs, often before they ask. Work that looks after people or makes their lives better suits you: teaching, care roles, design for homes, counseling, or running a team like a family.

Questions
How do you calculate Life Path 6?
Reduce the month, the day and the year to one digit each, add them, and reduce the result. For May 9, 1990: May is 5, the day is 9, and 1990 adds to 19, then 1 + 0 = 1. So 5 + 9 + 1 = 15, and 1 + 5 = 6. If 11, 22 or 33 appears at any stage, it's kept whole.
Which Life Path numbers are compatible with 6?
6s tend to feel at home with 2s, who share their care for others, and with 3s and 9s, who bring warmth and a big heart. A 4 can make a solid, settled partner. Freedom-loving 5s and private 7s can be harder, because a 6 shows love by getting close and those numbers need distance to feel safe.
Why do Life Path 6s take on so much?
A 6 feels responsible for how the people around them are doing, so saying no can feel like letting someone down. Helping also calms their worry. The result is often a long list of people they look after and very little looking after for themselves. Asking 'is this mine to carry?' before saying yes helps a great deal.
