More than a wheel full of symbols
How to read it
Three things to look at first
Start with the big three. Then look for any sign that holds three or more planets. Then find your tightest aspects. That's most of the personality in a chart.

What is a birth chart?
A birth chart (or natal chart) is a map of where the Sun, Moon and planets were, seen from the place you were born, at the minute you were born. Astrology reads each planet's sign and house as part of your personality.
What do I need to make my birth chart?
Your birth date, the town you were born in, and your birth time if you know it. Without a time you still get every planet's sign; the rising sign and houses need the time.
How accurate is this calculator?
Planet positions matched NASA JPL data to within 0.01° in our tests across 300 charts. Time zones and historical daylight saving are worked out from your birthplace.
What house system do you use?
Placidus, the most common system in Western astrology, with the tropical zodiac. Near the poles, where Placidus breaks down, we switch to whole-sign houses.
Is it really free?
Yes, and without an account. You can save your chart to a free account if you want to come back to it. Paid readings are optional and always show their price first.
